To be a good fit for the Director, Human Resources opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience and/or training and a minimum of 4 years of management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience overseeing the entire HR supporting a company or division of at least 300 employees.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and human resource information systems including, but not limited to, payroll systems, specifically demonstrated experience using UltiPro.

Reporting to the Vice President, Administration, you will lead a team that includes two HR Managers (one focusing on recruiting and one on benefits) and a staff member. This structure is fluid and may change.

You will direct the organization's human resources department by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. You'll be a working leader, responsible for both strategic planning and execution of the essential day-to-day functions of the role, including leading vendor relationships for human resource services. Quick question for you - click here

While you will be responsible for all aspects of HR, you can expect to invest a good portion of your time in the following:
  • Overseeing the company compensation programs by recommending, planning, and implementing pay program activities and revisions. You'll manage the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs.
  • Conducting research and analysis of organizational trends, and providing the VP with regular reports such as turnover ratios, headcount reports, etc. You'll leverage reports and metrics from our HRIS and/or talent management system.
  • Overseeing employee benefits programs and supporting the HR Manager in this area, including studying and assessing benefit needs and trends, recommending benefit programs to management, directing the processing of benefit claims, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids, awarding benefit contracts, and designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.

You'll help your team develop professionally, preparing them to take on additional responsibilities and move up.   • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Develop and implement departmental budget.
  • Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Direct and establish company training programs including employee training, management training and new hire onboarding/orientation programs. Manage and track training required by state and federal laws to ensure compliance.

  • Manage the company’s performance evaluation process. Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and disciplining employees; schedule management conferences with employees; listen and resolve employee complaints; counsel employees and supervisors.
  • Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keep past and current records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
  • Establish a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counsel managers on candidate selection; conduct and analyze exit interviews; recommend changes.
  • Perform other duties as required.
