To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the POS Technical Support Representative I opportunity, you also should have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-2 years of related experience or training, ideally as a Cardlock or POS tech; petroleum cardlock understanding is highly preferred, though we'll train you if you meet the other qualifications

  • A diagnostic mindset to find root causes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including:
    • Windows 10

Experience with the following is preferred but not required (we'll train you on whatever is new to you):
  • At least one of the following POS/Cardlock systems:
    • Autogas (ideally), Gas Boy, Fuel Force, Petro Vend, EJ Ward, Comm Data etc.
    • Top candidates will have hands-on experience remotely troubleshooting and working on the hardware and software,
  • Fuel dispensing equipment such as Gilbarco, Wayne, Bennett, etc.
  • Networking technology
  • SCADA systems  
You will work the Monday - Friday day shift at our corporate HQ in Newport Beach. Additionally, you will be part of the on-call rotation, after hours and on weekends. When on call, you will be able to respond remotely, from your home. We will provide a laptop. Additionally, we'll look to you to be flexible in your schedule to meet demands as we cover 24/7/365 operations.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Commissioning, you will join a team that includes three other Technical Support Representatives (TSRs) with different levels of seniority. As a Level I TSR, you will answer inbound customer phone calls and emails and serve as customer contact on basic and routine technical and service-related problems with station Point of Sale (POS) systems. Initially, you will focus on POS but in time will train on and support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in order to support field service technicians while they are on site at CNG and LNG fueling stations.  Quick question for you - click here

Role Details

Typically, calls/emails will be forwarded to you via the Customer Service Team. You will respond immediately, or in a timely manner if you're on another call, to ensure prompt and courteous service. You will primarily support field service technicians woking on site at CNG and LNG stations throughout the country. Some stations are owned by our fleet customers and others by Clean Energy Fuels, but all support the fueling needs of our customers. 

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Serving as customer contact on routine technical and service-related problems with POS systems.
  • Providing technical support to service technicians on PLCs by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing basic and routine problems, ensuring promptness and optimal performance.
  • Interacting with customers and responding to technical questions regarding POS equipment problems or requests for information. 
  • Diagnosing basic and routine mechanical, hardware, software and system failures for POS and PLC systems using established procedures.
  • Learning and applying policies, processes, techniques and concepts to ensure the resolution of basic and routine technical problems.
  • Troubleshooting and determining the most cost-effective repair and resolution to minimize customer and/or equipment downtime.
  • Maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction by promptly resolving tangible problems and concerns of low complexity.
  • Escalating problems and issues to a higher level of support including service that exceeds response time, repair time, lack of parts, or any other issue that could impact customer satisfaction.
  • Responding to, following up, and closing all assigned problems.
  • Acquiring and applying new knowledge and skills necessary to support POS and PLC systems.
  • Providing after-hours and/or weekend or holiday support (unscheduled support) as business needs arise. After hours calls can be handled remotely from your home (we'll provide a laptop).
  • Installing POS remotely.
  • Documenting problems and status reports.
