This is your opportunity to work as a self-directed service technician n the rapidly emerging, cutting-edge, green fuel industry. Your primary responsibility will be to provide planned service and call-out support to various compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling stations throughout the extended New York area. The Requirements

To meet the basic requirements for this role you must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without requiring a Visa transfer or Visa sponsorship. The ideal candidate for the Service Technician II role will have outstanding industrial electrical and strong mechanical skills/aptitude. Additionally, you will need:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Well-developed mechanical and electrical abilities and a strong understanding of how things work and operate together in a process flow environment.  
  • Modern automotive or diesel repair experience with expertise in mechanical and on board electrical diagnostic systems is a plus.
  • The practiced skill of diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems. Experience with high pressure gas/air systems is a plus.  
  • The demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair electrical problems such as current overloads, ground faults, short circuits, open circuits and faulty relay logic and ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • The skill to monitor, check and correct mechanical and electrical issues such as, but not limited to: phase imbalances, current draw, low voltage power supplies, pressure transmitters, relay logic programmable logic control operation, mechanical failures of pumps, valves, piping, actuators, motors, contactors, etc.
  • Experience with cryogenics is a plus.  
  • A commitment to working safely with high pressure gases and electrical components.
  • Your own tools, a well-developed professional Technician style set 1 ½" and less equipped to work on a combination of mechanical and electrical equipment. In addition to these requirements, flexibility and a willingness to be on call 24/7 every fourth or fifth weekend are required. For the most part you'll work a core, Monday through Friday, 40-hour work week with overtime if needed. You can live anywhere in the New York Area, and you'll cover stations throughout the state. Additionally, you will travel to Colorado for two one week initial training trips, as well as throughout the area for on-the-job training.

The Role

As a Service Technician II, you will inspect, maintain and repair the fueling equipment and ensure an aesthetically pleasing appearance at Clean Energy owned and customer-owned (fleet stations serving a variety of industries) LNG & CNG bay area stations. You will need a broad skillset coming in the door. We will then add to that skillset by providing outstanding training.

On a daily basis, you will travel to one or more sites (the number will depend upon need and the tasks at hand), and provide equipment and control maintenance and repair services while also creating positive customer relations that promote Clean Energy. Preventative maintenance will include ensuring safety interlocks for shut-down systems are working properly, automatic rebuilding of compressors after 5000 hours of use, disassembling and assembling components for cleaning and repair, working on pumps and cryogenic tanks, painting and cleaning the station, and more. In partnership with day shift Service Technicians, you will take responsibility for the stations' overall care, with the lion's share of your duties being mechanical, electrical and controls maintenance. You must have outstanding electrical and mechanical skills to succeed. Additionally, you will cover stations needing immediate service, troubleshooting issues and ensuring they remain up and running. 

Specifically, you will:
  • Conduct periodic inspections of fueling locations and equipment to determine that proper and normal operating conditions are being met.
  • Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, inter-stage temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed.
  • Install, remove and modify fueling locations and equipment.
  • Maintain all fueling related equipment and structures in accordance with manufacturers and Clean Energy guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain fueling locations by picking up trash, emptying trash cans and dumpsters, hand cleaning and polishing fueling equipment, and painting and maintaining the canopy, lot, islands, and surrounding landscaping in and outside of enclosures.
  • Repair, replace, and adjust malfunctioning equipment to restore proper operating condition specified in regulations and repair manuals.
  • Inspect, maintain, adjust, repair or replace electrical equipment including electrical wiring, conduit, panels, switch gear, switches, gauges, transducers, solenoids, gas dryers, actuators, motors, meters and controls for safe and proper operating condition.
