Launch a Long-Term Career with a Growing Company

This newly re-designed role is a unique opportunity to take ownership of our CRM system and work with leading-edge green technology in an emerging industry that represents the future of fuel: natural gas. Clean Energy is changing the world of transportation by supplying natural gas fuel for vehicles -- fuel that is cleaner, cheaper, abundant and All-American.

Reporting to the Manager, Sales Support, at our corporate headquarters, you will support our sales efforts by serving as CRM administrator and producing and maintaining a wide variety of reports. You'll enjoy the freedom and autonomy to bring your best ideas forward along with the visibility that comes with partnering with key contacts throughout our thriving company. This is a fast-paced environment and you will work with people who are passionate about their work and the company. If you love to learn and have strong Excel skills and CRM knowledge, this could be an ideal role for you.

Clean Energy is North America's leading provider of natural gas fuel for transportation, and a global leader in expanding the international natural gas vehicle markets. With experience and expertise built over two decades, we are committed to helping our customers -- companies operating all kinds of fleets from the goods movement sector, to refuse and public transit, to shuttles and taxi fleets -- gain the measurable economic and environmental advantages of natural gas fueling. We have more than 1000 employees and are continuing to expand our 500+ station portfolio.

This is a role where you will need to be comfortable working with worksheets that include tens of thousands of rows.

Additionally, to qualify for the Associate CRM Administrator position you will need:

  • An understanding of sales cycles and commitment to processes and procedures
  • The ability to:
    • write reports and business correspondence

Just as important as your experience and skills will be the following characteristics and competencies:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to keep all stakeholders and contributors in the loop

  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • A dedicated, team player approach

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Sales Operations, as Associate CRM Administrator, you will assist in generating sales of natural gas fuel by supporting and leveraging the CRM system used by our sales team. We are in the process of implementing and upgrading to a new version of Microsoft Dynamics, and you will serve as a daily systems admin for the technology platform. You’ll oversee all aspects of the system, which will include running reports, entering data, building dashboards, working with the sales team to identify discrepancies and verify accuracy of information, and much more. Quick question for you - click here

You’ll serve as the “eyes” on the system, ensuring successful system configuration and that the sales cycle is being processed through the system. Another key component to this role will be to drive user adoption of the CRM. Our 50+ sales professionals are currently using antiquated CRM technology and you will help pave the way for company-wide adoption of the system. You’ll help drive best practices and gain buy-in as to why the system will help the sales team do their jobs better.  We will look to you to provide ongoing input and feedback on design for continuous improvement to the system.

This role is heavily focused on CRM support and administration, and you can expect to spend the majority of your time (approximately 75%) on this function. You’ll spend the remainder of your time on other support activities and special projects where you will be expected to liaise with the sales team and a variety of other departments throughout the organization.

More specifically, you will:
  • Develop reports, manipulate data, implement processes and create various views and dashboards.
  • Confirm and enter data into the system. Ensure data is accurate and complete.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of CRM training materials and resources.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the sales reps or other users.
  • Develop and distribute various reports to assist the sales force in their daily and corporate-driven targeting efforts via the CRM system.
  • Report sales call activities, opportunity and closed account activity.
  • Assist in the analysis of various data sets and information in CRM.
  • Manage other duties as assigned.
Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

Why Clean Energy

Intriguing challenges -- you'll wear a variety or hats and work on a wide diversity of reports and projects. Because you'll be coming onboard in the middle of the CRM implementation and upgrade, you will have the opportunity to play an integral role in the successful integration of the system. You'll gain valuable career exposure as you partner with IT, consultants, and other key players throughout the implementation and then moving forward. Ours is a fast-moving, responsive environment that will keep you on your toes, but one in which you'll learn and further develop your skills.

An opportunity to help change the world -- we are extremely passionate about the company and what we are doing together. We are making this a better planet for our children and our grandchildren. You will find that everyone here is passionate about the work.

Ideal team, professional growth opportunities -- you'll work with a strong team, including other Administrators and Analysts, and you will routinely interface with many other departments.

Autonomy and support -- your supervisor believes strongly in providing employees the room they need to excel and drive the direction of this role. He'll expect that you'll take ownership of your projects, but also reach out if help is needed. You'll have his and the support of your fellow analysts.

Stability and career options -- we're growing rapidly and need talented people. Our growth also brings opportunity. Prove yourself a star and there are a number of career paths you could take. Having said that, there is much to learn in this position and it is not one that will come with a quick promotion. It will, however, put you in an excellent position to build a strong knowledge and skills base that will support a long and strong career with us. Future growth could include promotions to a Senior or Sales Analyst or a move to a completely different function like Finance or Sales.

Strong growth -- Clean Energy has the right solutions at the right time, as more and more organizations are exploring alternative fuel vehicles and solutions. We are growing strong, and Sales Operations plays a key role in assisting the sales team and our revenue goals.

Green standard for sustainability -- you probably already knew that natural gas burns much more cleanly than gasoline and diesel, producing significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions. But did you also know that natural gas is increasingly renewable, using biomethane reclaimed from landfill via waste-to-energy solutions? Clean Energy is helping companies and public organizations meet aggressive environmental goals.

Proven strong leadership -- you will join a team of accomplished, seasoned professionals at Clean Energy, led by Andrew Littlefair. Mr. Littlefair served as President of Pickens Fuel Corp (PFC), predecessor company of Clean Energy, which he co-founded in 1997 with Boone Pickens. Mr. Littlefair was Staff Assistant to then President Ronald Reagan in the Office of Presidential Advance from 1983 to 1987. Our executive team's profiles can be viewed at CleanEnergyFuels.com.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and discretionary bonus, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes all you would expect plus some pleasant surprises, such as a discretionary match on our 401(k) plan.

Keys to Success

At the top of the list of what it takes to succeed as an Associate CRM Administrator for us is flexibility, attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvements.  As we evolve and implement the system, so will your role, and it's safe to say that there will be something new to learn almost every day. That puts "a voracious appetite for learning" at the top of the list, as well. Other competencies that will ensure your success include:
  • An ability to anticipate: initially you won't have the CRM tribal knowledge that is required for this, but we will look to you to learn your role so well that you will ultimately be able to anticipate what's next, or what should be next and take action.
  • Cause-and-effect thinking: if you are a master at Excel you likely already have this. Just as you must anticipate what gets impacted when you change a spreadsheet formula, we will expect you to apply that same thinking to "your" CRM system. "If I change this, what else or who else does it impact?"
  • Being a team player: you will routinely interact with stakeholders inside and outside your immediate department and they will depend on you and your work and vice-versa. We are an extended team and when we work together, we produce incredible results that impact the world.
  • Initiative: if you are confident and competent enough to perform on your own (while knowing when to ask for support), you will do well and will, in return, be mentored and groomed to excel.
  • A high degree of professionalism: ours is the opposite of a "jeans and t-shirt" environment. We will look to you to represent our team well and you will have opportunities to interact with senior leaders in the company, including the President, SVP sales, and COO, to share what you're working on.
  • Meeting your key deliverables: you will always have competing priorities and we will look to you to manage your time and work so that you consistently achieve your goals.
This is a company that is worth working hard for and we will be as devoted to your success as you are.  Applying the keys above will go a long way toward supporting your success.
