This is your opportunity to work as a self-directed Service Technician in the rapidly emerging, cutting-edge, green fuel industry. We are growing quickly and you will join a small team directly responsible for the care and maintenance of several fueling station sites in Lakeland, FL and the extended surrounding area. The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have:
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. for any employer without requiring visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
To be a good fit for the Service Technician I opportunity, you also should have:

  • The ability to understand schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Well-developed electrical and mechanical abilities and a strong understanding of how things work and operate together in a process flow environment. You should be able to monitor, diagnose and repair:
    • Electrical problems such as current overloads, ground faults, open circuits, faulty relay logic, phase imbalances, current draw, low voltage power supplies, and pressure transmitters. 
    • Mechanical problems such as failures in pumps, valves, piping, actuators, motors, contactors, etc.
  • A commitment to working safely with high-pressure gases and electrical components.
  • Your own set of professional Technician style tools, 1 ½" and less, appropriate to work on a combination of mechanical and electrical equipment. Our Service Technicians often make use of crescent, socket, and pipe wrenches; hex keys; pliers; electrical test meters; power screwdrivers and torque wrenches; and more.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A solid DMV record with no moving violations, a driver’s license that has been valid for at least three years, and the ability to be insured by the company.
You also will need the following key competencies:
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills -- the talent to effectively interact with customers in a highly professional manner, acting as a strong representative for Clean Energy, building client relationships, and responding to requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Client communication abilities -- the skill and talent to take highly technical information, translate it, then present it to customers in easily understandable terms.
  • Language and communication skills -- the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions as well as short correspondence and memos, write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other Clean Energy employees.
  • Mathematical skills and reasoning abilities -- the skill to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The Role

In this role you'll work a core, Monday through Friday, 40-hour work week and with overtime as needed. It will be your task to inspect, maintain and repair the fueling equipment and assure an esthetically pleasing appearance for each of your assigned stations.

You will have a handheld computer with GPS and scanner that begins when you head out into the field for the day (less a commute time calculation) and is scanned at each destination. Throughout the week you will travel from site to site, performing your duties and providing strong customer service. Some calls will be short, while others, rebuilding a compressor for example, will require a significant amount of time.

Beyond your assigned stations, you should be open to managing on-call duties, You will be on-call for a week at a time every other week. It's difficult to estimate how often you will be required to visit a site after hours. Sometimes you might not get a call all week, other times you could get multiple calls in one night.  

Specifically you will:
  • Make periodic inspections of fueling locations and equipment to determine that proper and normal operating conditions are being met.
  • Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare these to trends, and make corrections as needed.  
  • Install, remove and modify fueling locations and equipment.
  • Maintain all fueling-related equipment and structures in accordance with manufacturers and Clean Energy guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain fueling locations by picking up trash, emptying trash cans and dumpsters, hand cleaning and polishing fueling equipment, and painting and maintaining the canopy, lot, islands, and surrounding landscaping in and outside of enclosures.
  • Repair, replace, and adjust malfunctioning equipment to restore proper operating condition specified in regulations and repair manuals.
  • Inspect, maintain, adjust, repair or replace electrical equipment including electrical wiring, conduit, panels, switch gear, switches, gauges, transducers, solenoids, gas dryers, actuators, motors, meters and controls for safe and proper operating condition.
  • Inspect, maintain, adjust, repair or replace mechanical equipment such as compressors pumps, engines, intercoolers, after coolers, heat exchangers, piping, tubing, fittings, filters, traps, gas dryers, fasteners, valves and actuators for safe and proper operating condition.
