Director, Engineering

Summary
Direct, coordinate, and supervise Engineers engaged in the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of CNG and LNG fueling station engineering projects and contract manufacturing within area of assigned responsibility by supervising the work of subordinates using a hands-on approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage, plan and implement engineering programs, including defining the project philosophy, activities, milestones, and staff requirements.
- Conduct a quality check of documents and reports, verifying the accuracy of data, information, and calculations.
- Provide input for engineering cost estimates and execution strategy.
- Directly supervise and provide leadership to the engineering team and support personnel.
- Provide high-level technical/analytical support to achieve business growth objectives.
- Interface with equipment suppliers to ensure consistency in design with supplier products and recommend design changes to improve station designs
- Ensure engineering teams adhere to project schedules and budgets for the assigned engineering projects.
- Build a strong engineering team and drive technical projects to a successful conclusion on time and within budget.
- Train and upgrade department resources to keep current with industry standards.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of services.
- Control overhead expenditures within limitations of department budget and meeting the allocation goal of department labor hours processed into paying projects.
- Oversee assignment personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, station design, preparation of specifications and detailed plans, and product testing.
- Evaluate and approve design changes, standards, and template drawing releases.Improve cost effectiveness while using innovative design ideas.
- Evaluate feedback from Operations and Project Management to consider and implement lessons learned into standards, templates, and station designs.Provide technical support to Operations to insure the optimum operation of existing stations.
- Interface with customers, sales and project management to provide engineered solutions to technical issues
- Provide status and progress reports to customer, project team, General Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

Directly supervise team of employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, plus a minimum of 8+ years of related experience and a minimum of 3 years of management experience leading a team of engineers; or equivalent combination of education and/or training, and experience. Master's Degree preferred.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience in AutoCAD, CADworks, and MathCAD software.
