Technical Writer

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Technical Writer is responsible for the compilation, administration and publishing of technical documents including engineering bulletins, training curriculum, newsletters, warranty and non-conformances to best serve CEC’s equipment stakeholders.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with engineering to capture and compile technical details, compile work instructions, process mapping, and engineering bulletins that are distributed within Clean Energy.
- Develops and maintains product manuals, including; product descriptions, maintenance procedures, hazardous operations, product images and related forms affected by equipment changes or new product launches.
- Creates and administers training materials, ensuring curriculum is updated, current and organized, developing and editing training videos, updating training records and issuing training certificates as applicable.This may include working with the customers, engineers and technicians to set up training sessions.
- Administers and processes stakeholder satisfaction surveys and feedback received, providing summaries and recommendations to the engineering director for further discussion and planning.
- Assists with general administration needs of the department.
- Provides parts updates including introductions of repair kits, substitutions, private labeling, market specific requirements and other parts updates.
- Performs work in accordance with CEC documented policies and procedures.
- Completes all applicable quality records.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Minimum of 2 years post secondary education.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in technical writing or other related experience.
PHYSICAL
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
LANGUAGE
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and write clear and detailed correspondence.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information and procedures.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power-Point.
- Experience with Access, Photoshop and video editors is an asset.
- Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/PERMITS
- Valid BC Driver’s License.
OTHER
- Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation; including P&IDs, technical drawings, processes.
- Must have the ability to make decisions and give clear and concise written directions.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
- Perform work in accordance with CEC documented policies and procedures.
