Quality Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Quality Engineer assists with the effective implementation of CEC’s Quality Management Systems to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ASME U stamp certification as well as other applicable codes and standards by reviewing design documents, interfacing with third parties, analyzing data, performing audits, developing, improving and reviewing procedures, work instructions and forms, providing training within the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete internal QMS audits, assign actions to address findings and verify their completion.
- Develop and revise documentation defining essential business processes and product controls.
- Analyze process KPI’s and prepare analytical reports to assess process performance and effectiveness of the quality management system and quality initiatives.
- Review project scopes, Engineering design drawings and specifications to establish appropriate production controls satisfying customer, design and code requirements
- Review and participate in the development of FMEA’s, PFD’s control plans, work instructions, checklists, gauges and fixtures required to standardize production quality control
- Ensure all pressurized equipment is assembled and tested in compliance with the ASME B&PV code (U stamp), ASME B31.3, CSA B51, PED and related codes and standards
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, certifications and listing reports
- Assist with third party inspections ensuring compliance with all requirements and availability of all required records
- Analyze NCR’s and CAR/PAR/SCAR record types using Agile PLM and Quality Management software
- Investigate nonconformances, initiate and assign nonconformance reports, facilitate their resolution and where appropriate, initiate corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform measurement system studies including GR&R
- Track resolution of corrective and preventive actions and facilitate problem solving within cross-functional teams, using the 8D problem solving methodology, and root cause analysis tools.
- Perform document control activities (drafts, revisions, issuing, etc.)
- Initiate and support LEAN implementation and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop and present training on quality management processes, tools and methods.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
- Perform work in accordance with CEC documented policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or a related engineering discipline or an equivalent engineering diploma and related experience
EXPERIENCE
- At least 10 years experience in a quality related role.
- Strong knowledge and experience implementing ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
- Proficiency interpreting and reviewing mechanical drawings, P&ID’s, electrical schematics and weld maps per ASME Y14.5 and related standards.
- APQP training and experience
- Application of 8D problem solving and root cause analysis tools
- Proficient in the use of quality system software (SPC, calibration management, non-conformance, etc.).
- Experience in the manufacture and control of pressure equipment and electrical equipment, complying with domestic and international codes and standards. (ASME, CSA, CE, ETL, etc.)

- ASQ CQA/CQE/CQT, AWS, ASNT or equivalent
Certification in Six Sigma techniques and Lean Manufacturing is advantageous
