SERVICE TECHNICIAN

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Service Technician works with domestic customers and internal departments to deliver technical support for our CNG Compressors in accordance with CEC documented procedures and instructions, to facilitate equipment testing, commissioning, warranties, servicing, training, rebuilds, root cause analysis, assists in promoting aftermarket parts and service sales and completes all applicable quality records.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be a 4th year apprentice or a Journeyman Gas Fitter.
- Must be able to travel 50% of the time within Alberta.
- Must have a valid passport and be able to travel within the USA.
- Perform the assigned work in an efficient and professional manner, representing the best interest of CEC at all times. This includes maintaining a presentable image by wearing the assigned uniform.
- Understand the operational and technical function of natural gas compressors and provides the maintenance requirements that ensure it is operating safely, reliably and at its optimal performance.
- Trouble-shoot problems with the natural gas compressors, identify the parts requiring repair or replacement and perform the repairs in an efficient and timely manner.
- Collect and report equipment information, outstanding issues, service reports, parts used or required, work performed, labour time and any expenses incurred.
- Complete all applicable Quality records, time cards, expense reports and other applicable reports in a timely fashion and actively uses the systems of the department.
- Respond to emergency and after-hour service call-outs as per the assigned schedule.
- Operate assigned company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner while obeying all applicable laws. This includes ensuring the vehicle is properly maintained, remains presentable, clean and for all parts and tools to be properly stored, accounted and be organized.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with current and new clients.
- Solicit sales of new or additional services in an efficient, professional and courteous manner. This position requires being tactful and patient with customers and maintaining proper communication within the Customer Care department.
- Offer product support and technical assistance as required and follow up to ensure a timely resolution is achieved.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.
- Ensures a safe work environment is obtained and that all required safety attire is worn.
- Follows the CEC corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform work in accordance with CEC documented policies and procedures.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Formal technical education as a Millwright, Journeyman Mechanic or Journeyman Electrician from a recognized program.
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

COMPUTER SKILLS
- Working knowledge of:
- Capable of learning new technical software programs as assigned by CEC.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/PERMITS
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
OTHER
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to calculate basic figures
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to deal with and solve practical problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
