Logistics Coordinator

LOGISTICS COORDINATOR
EFFECTIVE DATE: 2013/06/01
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible to ensure seamless processing of outgoing shipments. The Logistics Coordinator understands the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of outgoing items. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for quality workmanship in accordance with CEC documented procedures and instructions, completing all applicable quality records as required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to ensure proper shipping practices are utilized.
- Responsible to ensure international shipping practices are understood and utilized, and to ensure goods are shipped in the most economical way possible yet meeting customer requirements.
- Responsible to ensure goods shipped are properly packaged and made ready for transport.
- Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation.
- Maintain organized work area according to CEC policies, procedures and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Maintain filing of shipping documents.
- Be punctual and available for a minimum of 40 hours of work per week.
- Perform work in accordance with CEC documented policies and procedures.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Materials handling certification or equivalent experience required.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years shipping experience required.
PHYSICAL
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
LANGUAGE
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Minimum 2 years experience with ERP systems.
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/PERMITS
- Materials handling certification or equivalent experience.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Overhead crane and rigging.
- Forklift.
OTHER
- Have an excellent knowledge or proper shipping practices.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Have an eye for detail and pride in one’s work.
