POSITION OVERVIEW: The Buyer is responsible for providing an uninterrupted flow of materials at greatest value to meet production schedules, in accordance with CEC documented procedures and instructions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create, update and manage Purchase Orders using the MRP/ERP systems.
• Negotiate supplier/vendor orders/contracts with terms conditions, pricing and quality to achieve best value.
• Responsible to   Ensure materials / parts and services are available and executed on time with expected quality.
• Identify cost reduction initiatives through sourcing or working with exiting suppliers/vendors.
• Conduct technical sourcing as needed to meet CEC development and business needs.
• Maintain systems to ensure the accurate accounting and usage of all materials.
• Responsible to oversee warranty claims with suppliers/vendors.
• Manage supplier/vendor relationships.
• Support product development and commercialization.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
• PMAC Certification II or equivalent
• Degree or Post-Secondary education is an asset.
EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 year purchasing experience  in a manufacturing environment required.
PHYSICAL
• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Required to regularly  lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, colour vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. 
• Ability to read, interpret and explain drawings
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, suppliers and other employees of the organization
• Ability to analyze and communicate transportation mode instructions as well as import / export instructions that achieves best value for organization
• Ability to write reports and effective business correspondence.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

COMPUTER SKILLS
• Minimum of 2 years experience with ERP/MRP systems (Dyanmics AX an asset)
• Proficient with use of Microsoft Office Suite.
CERTIFICATES/LICENCES/PERMITS
• N/A PMAC or other procurement certification considered an asset
•  Valid BC Driver’s Licence
OTHER
• Have an excellent knowledge of purchasing practices
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross functional team
• Have an eye for detail and pride in one’s work.
