Quality System Engineer (6 Month Contract)
Canada CECC HQ
The Quality Engineer assists with administration of the Quality Management System to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ASME standards by analysing data, performing audits, developing, improving and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures and providing training within the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete internal QMS audits to the ISO9001:2008, assign actions to address findings and verify their completion.
- Analyse data to assess the effectiveness of the quality management system, quality initiatives and prepare analytical reports.
- Assist the QA Manger with administration of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and aspects related to ASME certification.
- Ensuring compliance with the relevant codes and standards.
- Review, analyse and respond to NCR trends and causes.
- Achieve timely resolution of corrective and preventive actions by facilitating problem solving with cross-functional teams, using a structured problem solving methodology, and root cause analysis tools.
- Process change requests and review controlled documents prior to release.
- Lead projects designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of QMS, improve product quality and reduce cost.
- Develop documentation defining essential business processes and product controls.
- Develop and present training on quality management processes, tools and methods.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
- Perform work in accordance with IMW documented policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or a related engineering discipline or an equivalent engineering diploma and related experience

EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of experience in a related QA/QC role.
- Strong knowledge and experience implementing ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
- ISO9001 lead auditor certification from a recognized accreditation or training body
- Proficient in interpreting and reviewing mechanical drawings, P&ID’s, electrical schematics and weld maps.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASME B31.3 Pressure Pipe welding, testing and traceability is a strong asset
- APQP training and experience
- Leading teams effectively addressing corrective actions applying the 8D problem solving process
- Proficient with quality system software (SPC, calibration management, non-conformance, etc.).

COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, Project)
- Experience using ERP and PLM software.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/PERMITS
- ISO9001:2008 lead auditor or internal auditor certification from a recognized body
- ASQ CQA/CQE/CQT, AWS, ASNT or equivalent is an advantage
Certification in Six Sigma techniques and Lean Manufacturing is advantageous
OTHER
- Able to effectively interface with cross-functional teams.
- Highly motivated and self-directed, capable of multi-tasking and able to work with minimal supervision.
